Is there a way to install the distributor gear without a press? Can it be tapped in by using a brass punch?

Let the distributor sit in the freezer for 24hrs, and the gear in a oven for a little bit. You'll have a short window, but it worked for me. I got mine on by hand, have the pin or a thin screwdriver so you can align the holes before it expands.

I've done it before using a socket and hammer the problem is if you chip a tooth on the gear your stuck, so if you do it go slow. If you are using the same gear, put it on the exact orientation that it came out, sometime the hole for the lock pin isn't perfectly strait.

Good luck
