I *think* 2019 is when Ford came out with the updated phasers so if it's a late 2019, it possibly already has the updated phasers. If not, that's something to budget in because the old style will fail at some point.

I was not a big Ecoboost fan until my buddy got one, it's a 2017 crew cab, 4wd truck and for a stock truck, it moves pretty well. It hangs right with my buddies RCSB 5.0 6speed truck with some mods. The 10 speed with the 3.5 is pretty dope, moves out good, hauls good. But it did get the cam phaser rattle which he ignored for way too long and it's currently getting a motor after the updated phasers didn't fix a miss it had developed and we found it down a cylinder on compression. It's got right at 200k miles on it, and has probably had the rattle the last 2 years before he got around to getting it fixed.

I don’t particularly care for that front spoiler (?), but the truck spent its first ~5k in Oklahoma/Nebraska so maybe the first owner thought it would help against the wind??

And those 245/70x17’s have to go! I’m thinking 20’s

Or….. this? Older but 25,000 fewer miles and a 5.4L for $23k
Is that a good year & motor?

Honestly, the coyote is proving to be the more reliable engine. The 5.4l 2v engines after '03 are solid, but the 3v are not. It was just the other day I watched a video from a ford tech that I follow about why 3v 5.4l cam phasers fail and he proved excessive oil loss at a few cam tower caps. The extra flow loss reduces pressure and volumes to the phaser to be less.

Shortly after posting, I dug a little deeper and uncovered same issue with the cam phaser

I was never a fan of the eco boost but I’ve had a 2015 king ranch f150 with the 3.5 since 2021 and it’s got 280,000kms on it now I’ve put 120k of those miles and it’s been awesome , tows my car easily I’ve hauled quite a lot with it too

But on the flip side....there are many F150 ecoboost trucks/vans, racking up miles, puttin in work daily not sweating these failures and surprising the hell out of us.

Ive seen engines sludged up so bad it starved it ownself oil, kept runnin, and have over 300thousand miles.....run top notch. Ive seen broke crackshaft in 4 yr old 50thousand mile, garage kept Toyota camery with religious oil changes.....

So ive come to the conclusion that i dont know chit!

The problem with us all reading so much online is that we end up only seeing the folks having issues - not the millions that don't. We all get a bit jaded... I'm still never going to own a Kia/Hyundai product lol.

Decided on this one. Gonna get it Saturday morning. I gotta admit, the Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L 4x4 was frickin’ beautiful, loaded with tons of luxuries, etc. But it also came with a considerable jump in insurance cost and poorer gas mileage compared to the 5.0 Coyote. The logical side of my brain prevailed as I don’t NEED 4WD and the additional costs I could do without stressing about. Not near as flashy or eye-catching, but it’ll serve the purpose quite nicely I’m sure.

P.S.- the 1st thing to go is that god-awful dick bill looking chin spoiler. Fugly.
