I know most people will say a gear is the best bang for the buck upgrade but is that jsut because theyre coming from the 2.73(?) gear? i have 3.27's(?) in my convertible gt. Is it worth it to go to a 3.73 3.90 gear? I plan on doing around 75-100 shot ovr the summer for maybe monthly track use but mostly for streetuse as my DD. How much of a performance difference will i feel going to a 3.73 or 3.90? Worth it? Its probobly the one thing i couldnt do myself so i imagine itd cost like 500 or so.
Performance Like HP and TQ? None. It is worth it to go that route, if your planning on juice id go 4.10's and a 26-28in tall slick. the car will seem more peppy in a sence. You could stay conservative and go 3.73's which is what i have cause i daily mine.
ill be running a 315 35 17 nitto drag radial so about 26" tall. I know hp and tq wont chang but how about 1/4 time.
well you better be carefull, cause i have a 315/35/17 and i have not run in the 1/4 yet due to the fact i will be crossing the finish line in 5th gear. which for me is bad, i could melt the plugs, you need a taller tire IMO to get across the line in 4th.
Since 5.0's have torque FRPP 3.55's or 3.73's would be the perfect gear for daily street and highway driving and you will still be able to maintain good MPG too.
Re: is it worth it to swap out my 3.27 gears compared to people swapping from 2. 3.73's or 3.9's. Don't waste your time on 3.55's. Dont fear the gear.
ok this all makes sense and im not trying to be a pain but my main ? is it really worth it for me to fork over the 500 or so for say a 390 gear compared to someone who is coming from the 2.** gear since i have 3.2*. I already have .5 or so over the normal stock gear. is another .6 going to mkae a huge differanc in feel. i just want to make sure im not wasting my money. Want some good bang for the buck considering i could save it for other options like upper and lower intake or something.
Re: is it worth it to swap out my 3.27 gears compared to people swapping from 2. yeah i am not sure whether i want to go with a 3.73, 3.90 or a 4.10. we need all the help we can get in our VERT's
Re: is it worth it to swap out my 3.27 gears compared to people swapping from 2. think 4.10's would be ok in the 1/4.
ok thanks for the help. As long as ill really notice the difference ill go out and get some motive 3.90's. This way when every1 argues 3.73 or 4.10 i can just be in the middle. haha. Thanks for all your help guys. Probobly wont install myself but how hard is it to do and what tools do i need?
Re: is it worth it to swap out my 3.27 gears compared to people swapping from 2. If you have never done it. I would not recommend it. I find it easy but thats not to say the next person will also. if you have some patience and some knowledge it can be done. Just make sure you have everything. A good set of tools will be in order.
i will tell you now, have them professionally installed, if done wrong you can get whinning, and your rear end will go boom. Install is usually 300 bucks there is a guy locally in dallas that buys and installs the gears for $450
