I plan on doing the JMOD shift kit in my 1998 mustang GT here soon now that it is warming up. Recommendation on buying a pre drilled separator plate or just drill the holes myself? Also would it make a difference getting a ''harder'' tougher separator plate online and drilling that myself.

I read about this extensively but never went through with it. In the end I had just about decided to do the Baumann shift kit then I got cold feet on the whole thing and started buying 5 speed swap parts.
To answer your question you should be able to drill the holes yourself. There are a lot of writeup and youtube videos out there. Worst case if something "bad" happens you grab another valve body from the boneyard.

Was looking at a shift kit at first until I did some research and found the JMOD shift kit and everybody was recommending it, especially since the person who created it is a Ford engineer. Thanks for the feedback will drill holes myself and if I mess up I'll just get a new one.

The jmod is a great upgrade for an aode/4r70w trans. Couple separator plate gaskets, drill bits, springs, mercon V, filter, etc. You can tailor it to your needs/upgrades.
