Well, I just bought another Ford to add to the "Decker" Fleet... 2000 Ford F-350 SD XL Regular Cab. 4WD 6.8L V10 SOHC 20V. 5 speed manual. It doesn't have a bed, but I plan to put a contractor or utility bed on it. It's was originally a Florida Truck, and was recently brought up to Ohio by a government agency and then stored for the last year.

Total paid $3,262.50

My ranger just isn't cutting it anymore for these equipment pickups and deliveries. Time to step up the game.

Nice, great price too. The V10s are torque monsters, but gas hogs. We have a 2000 Excursion V10. It does about 13MPG on the high average. Highway only, closer to 14-14.5 if you don't have a leadfoot.

Get a K&N for the airbox and leave it alone. I've heard hit/miss on the tuners for mileage, and the exhausts are soo frigin expensive and not worth much for MPG or power. The SD trucks are pretty solid for reliability. Our Excursion has 170K and has had minimal issues. I had to grease the 2-piece driveshaft to get rid of a clunk in the driveline, and had to timesert one cylinder (#9 IIRC).

Good info. Thanks Rich.

I already planned on it being a gas hog, but it'll just be used for equipment pick ups and deliveries that my Ranger can't handle, so it will spend a lot of time sitting indoors.

Memphis-ish
My dad's rocking a 03 F250 V10 truck. 4WD, fully loaded, always got a bed full of tools, and he averages in the 10-12mpg range but it does have enough power for whatever he does and he doesn't notice a big drop in MPG when pulling a trailer (stays around the 9-10 mark loaded) but has been a pretty decent truck. His has 211k miles on it and besides needing coils, it's been a good truck I'd say. I still prefer a Powerstroke but can't complain for $3k. Nice truck man, I love SD's.
