key stuck

I have a 97 gt convertible it starts great when I turn the key off the car and accessories turn off but the key dosent go all the way back so I can't take it out any idea thanks

also as they get older it becomes easier for the key to come out before it is all the way back or even while you drive when it completely wears out. You might be pulling the key out a little too early be sure you have it pushed in and then turn it back the rest of the way(holding the button shown above).

I'm pretty sure you DO! We all have them.....Now you have to post a pic of your key when you get it out!

OP: did you shake the steering wheel as you tried to get it out? Mine sometimes gets stuck when the wheel is locked and you have to shake the wheel to get the key to move

The key came out no problem today and I don't have that button on my 97 gt auto

Hahaha... so many ASSumptions.

Bet you all feel like idiots now.

OP, you probably have an issue with the ignition unlock cable. You might need to drop your column and check the cable and pivot mechanism.

Yea, auto's didn't have that.

My truck occasionally does the thing where it doesn't think it's fully in park so it won't release the key (the cable) and you have to jostle the shifter around a bit. The other thing I would guess is you may need to turn the wheel one way or the other?

LOL...never to old to learn something new!!! I'll always admit it too...I learned that autos don't have the lock! Good one
