ill have to double check when i get home from work.
My King Cobra clutch feels like the stock clutch. It might be because you have it behind a 5.0 instead of a 4.6. Just a thought.
Mine feels stock too. :dunno:
You guys are on crack. The KC has a higher-rated pressure plate than stock. To get more pressure, it takes more pedal effort. Period.
I have a Cobra pressure plate with a Ram disc in my racecar too, and it is heavier than stock as well.
Sorry ,maybe you have a noodle leg ? :dunno: :hammer:
Feels like stock ,maybe a slight difference. Or maybe you need a new clutch cable.
My recollection is that it looked like yours. . . but I'm not sure.
Noodle leg? :hammer: sorry :-X
Lol. Well you got a few people sayin its like stock ,and one guy sayin its not. So either we are all on crack like he said,or we are all super strong or he's got a noodle leg. :rollinglaugh:
BTW- Crack deosn't make me feel any different than normal.
Thats why im asking the question, The pressure plate included with my kit is a King cobra ( able to handle more power) or just a heavy duty one.
please help, Im going to get it installed tomarrow and dont want to have a stocker again.
I have frrp. Sorry man thats all I can tell you. :dunno:
You must be right, everybody else is wrong. I bought a king cobra clutch, I unpacked it, I installed it. It feels stock, and I don't do crack.
i guess i'll add my $0.02. When I had my 1997 GT... I put in a king cobra pressure plate/clutch kit. Also had the stock flywheel resurfaced. I did everything on this clutch job to a T. Let me say it was the smoothest engaging clutch I've driven to date, and it grabbed extremely tight when I hammered on it but it was still easy to drive.
Lets just say... on the 94 GT we are working on, that as soon as humanly possible I'm getting a new flywheel (this one is fugged up) and a king cobra kit. The stock one is just garbage, comparing the two.
To be honest at this point,Im not really sure what hes asking. This thing has been all over the place. :dunno:
LOL thats what i was thinking.
here is my question:
IS this clutch kit a heavy duty or a King Cobra?
according to Mustangsunlimited ( where i got the clutch) the king cobra doesnt come with pilot bearing or alignment tool. the Heavy duty kit does co me with these parts though.
the kit i got however came with them?
I got my KC HD from Summit . I got the kit. It comes with the TB ,P/P and clutch disc. $185.
Valeo is kinda like AC Delco but for clutches etc. They make/made clutches for Ford . I dont know if they called it KC or not. Its similar to Ford calling their stereos Mach 1000 etc. But actually Pioneer or Delco (whoever)actually make it even though they dont advertise it..
The strange thing is that link you posted ,they quote $225 for just the TB,P/O and disc. But they sent you the extras anyways ?
i live a few min from them so i picked it up, from what i can tell I was sold a HD kit, not KC.
here is my reason.
look a the Mcleod dual frictions, one is a blue printed KC and the other a HD preassure plate.
basically, i was sold the $170 kit for $225 cause someone UPC'd it wrong.
Looks like they just mix and match their kits ,hence the cheap wood tables for a display case ,lol. The KC plate is a little thinner than others making it easier to engage. That probably why they mix their kits. The King Cobra HD is the same thing.
But the shop sold you the kit plus PB and tool ? Thats probably where the extra cost is coming into play. Its up to them what comes in that kit besides /plate,disc and TB.
But overall ,anytime you order the KC "kit ,its gonna just be ,plate, disc and TB.
did you notice that mcleod uses blueprinted diaphragms.
since the Kit did come withe the pilot bearing and tool ( which is listed in the HD cheaper kit) im thinking someone just fubar'd the label and it ended up in my hands, so i paid $55 more than i should have.
Im going to bring it to the store tomarrow and see if i can clear it up.
I dunno. But thats the same disc in both pics. Wish they had part numbers.
