I think this is one of the few places we can still use that term tranny and not offend anyone but if I am wrong please correct me. With the sounds my 100k stock tranny is makin with the new power I better start planning on a new one sooner or later. I would like to get a 6 speed to lower the rpms at highway speed as with the 3.55s now its a little over 2krpms at 60. What would you go with?

If you are looking to spend the money that it takes to get a new transmission, just get a t56 trans with the bell housing to fit your engine. They are plenty strong and have 2 overdrive gears.

6th gear in a t56 is .63 you won't really get much of an rpm drop from the t5 i don't think you just get extra gearing in between with the longer gears

T56 has .63 for final drive
T5 has .68. About 100 rpm difference

Plug your tire size in and should be fairly accurate.

The top gear difference has been pointed out to me and mentioned that there is a road race version with a

The overdrive difference has been pointed out that there would not be much of a change. How about with this one then and the .5 top gear?

Probably another couple hundred rpm of a drop id imagine. T56 with the .50 wouldn't be bad. Idk why they call it road racing transmission. Why would you want a .50 gear with less than 900 hp lol

I've got my father in law keeping his eye out for a t56 for me. They own a trans shop and don't rebuild manuals they just swap them. Have the knowledge just not the time.

I want to find one that’s bad also. So I can rebuild it and save some money. I’m pretty sure you can order the OD gear set and put the .50 in either trans.

I wish I knew that much about them to do it myself but that is not going to happen.

t56 is the only real option imo until someone figures out a kit to put tr6060s in our cars. Those people upgrade to t56 magnums.

t45 and t3650s are around but the after market support is not.

my understanding is the 6060 is oem hydraulic clutch and t56mag is purely aftermarket. I would def be interested in a kit that lets me drop a gt500 tranny into our cars....

It’s a beefed up 6060 for the most part. Hydraulic clutching is an option.
