You specifically want FWD? I'd look into a Towncar if you want Lincoln. Big, comfy, 4.6 under the hood. With that said, the Continental is a nice car, get the V8 one, they might have V6s but I'm sure they have the 4.6s in em aswell

Pretty sure all the Conti's from like the mid-90s up were FWD 4V 4.6L.

Chris, what's wrong with the beater Buick!? lol

Groceries left in the back seat? Bingo cards in the glove box?

Any Viagra I find under the seat I'm going to take... Lol. Show the girlfriend who's boss..........

First thing is first. It needs to have the 4.6... some of the Lincolns have the 3.9 and I want nothing to do with that...

Some pictures look like it's rwd mounted engine, others fwd. We'll see! Here in CO fwd is great in the snow.

The Buick kept stalling randomly. So I sold it. Been riding my bike. Lol.

As for the town car, I looked at them. They are bigger, more expensive, and don't come with sunroofs as a standard... :-\

I really liked the 90's 4V Lincolns. Every time I see a clean Mark VIII I want one, spare Teksid when you need a donor.

In CO the FWD will probably be better for you so good choice on the Continental, just can't use that block if you needed it.

Plenty of trunk space for all the weed to guys can buy now.

If you want a DD that's actually good on gas Id get a Hyundai Accent. Laugh all you want but you'll see 30mpgs and it sits 4 extremely well. The hatch back even gives you a lot of truck space as well. My GF owns one and it's a neat little gas sipper, that or a miata. Do you need a v8 for a DD? Lol.

I think the v6 lincoln you are thinking of is the LS.

I get around 22mpg in my mark viii so it shouldn't be too bad on gas.

Buy a car thats economical to run and fix. The worst is when you have a DD that takes mod money from one car because you want to modify/build up or one thats a pain to maintain, especially if you have to pay someone else to fix.

Mark VIII FTW. We have one around here that's the cleanest car you'll ever see in your entire life, and sports somewhere around 700hp. It's the baddest Lincoln... Those 4v's...

Don't do it. Plenty of electrical gremlins and unless you want to deal with it, the air ride is always fun to diagnose and fix. I think they had rear air ride only.

Remember you're dealing with a stretched Taurus.

That 4.6 is parked alongside a Taurus trans, which was not meant for V8 horsepower and torque, and 95-97 were much worse for wear than 98-02. If you want to yank the motor for a swap, don't bother, the FWD block is drilled differently for the bellhousing and it will not work in a RWD application. Verifiable in numerous places. You're in for a hell of a time changing plugs on the rear bank and if the water pump goes, you're pretty much going to have to drop the front cradle to get at it.

Watch for rust in the wheelwells and the rockers.

Honestly, saying this as a Lincoln fan (owned a Mark VIII), you might want to reconsider.

Why does it have to be a 4.6? Whats up your sleeve? :D

Nothing. I'm poor as tuck. Lol.

Yup. My buddy had a mark viii that was fwd and it was aaaamazing in the snow. the tires and fwd were selling points for me on this one.

those are all over Craigslist. perfect little cars for a DD. the only problem is I can't fit my ego in a car that small... LOL. I chose the Lincoln because its power every thing. my mustang is power nothing. Time for a little luxury in my life.

Get a mini van

Your mom loves minivans.... ohhhhhhhh!

Yup. The LS has the v6. my brother has one and we looked it up today to see who would win in a drag race. Lol. his has the 3.9 v8

Good point. I wasn't going to buy this unless it had the 4.6... an engine I'm familiar with in hopes of reducing repair costs.

I 2nd this MustangChris you are getting old fast. Soon you will be married and taking care of another mans children (kidding) so just give in.

Nah. your ol' lady makes me cover the stump... ;)

Damn. would have avoided it had you posted this first. those Taurus transmissions go out all the time... I didn't realize these were the same...

But, its too late. Lol....

I'll post picks tomorrow, guys! :)

You can find them all day for 2K-ish in nice shape. They're good cheap cars with plenty of power for a DD. Fun to drive. 4.6 under the hood. I love mine!
