The 4g and 6g alternator brackets are different and do not interchange. The nice thing about the 6g is improved charging. You can get a denso unit from a later model p71. Much better alternator than the stock 99-04 gt alternator. What I don’t understand is why this guy swapped to a 4g. I’d be afraid of what else I find that he “fixed”. I hope you get a good deal on it.

Guy installed a new alternator. He bought a 3wire and has the white wire just dangling. Says it's charging but the battery/charging indicator is illuminated. Is there an easy fix? See pic.
It’s that a used alternator?

It doesn't matter, it's going away. I'm ordering a new one from LMR for $170 shipped, no core. Guy lowered the price another 250 to compensate. Sweet! Thanks for the help guys!

UPDATE: Car is home. I bought it. Ordered 130A alt from LMR with new bracket. Hopefully I can sell the old one on FB marketplace for 50-75.00

I don’t even know what that bracket is from as the part number doesn’t come up on google. It’s almost comical because it doesn’t attach to anything. The 6g has two threaded bosses where the proper bracket attaches to secure it to the intake. It’s like someone put that on there for the sake of having it.

I figured it was from a different model. Do the 4g alternators even have a bracket? I’ve never noticed.

Pulled the old one off today as my shipment from LMR arrived. The old one was a Motorcraft. Unfortunately the pigtail was different so had to go buy one for $30 locally :(
Got the new one installed with the new bracket and the battery light is gone!
