have a 97 gt with 100k. Like everyone else looking for more daily driving hp. Want to spend about 3k ,so what's the best way to do this? Go with an old school sbf , boost what I have or get a newer long block? Thanks in advance

it depends on the motor but a simple supercharger is some bolt on fun and they can be found used for that range.

Ok so what should I expect from a sc on my stock 97 gt? Seems to be the most straight forward move. Is kenne bell or vortec better?

kenny bell, vortech, procharger are all designed to bolt on. I am not a great mechanic by any means but the vortech instructions were complete with good enough pics to make it pretty easy to follow. They each have their good/bad points. Kb suffers from heat soak once the block is hot, vortech's design makes it hard to intercool, and prochargers price with the intercooler included scares a lot of people off. I went with vortech after finding a great deal on a NIB kit that someone got and then wrecked the car.
