So I'm installing a Kenwood double din DNX570HD into my '04.
The question I have is; will the factory MACH amplifiers accept a pre-amp output signal from the new head unit or is the signal taken from the outputs used in the Scosche FD23B wiring harness that Sonic Electronix sent me?:dontknow:

I have the mach 460 system in my 99 cobra. I used the Metra 70-5510 for my Pioneer double DIN conversion. I ordered it from eBay. It just seemed like better quality than the cheap ass Wal-Mart Scosche stuff.

you can use the pre-amp outputs but sometimes the output of the deck is not high enough to make the amps happy. Not a big deal but there is one more module you would need to install if that is the case. You cando it either way honestly...

The Metra 70-5510 harness is listed on the Sonic website, but the description states that it's for "'86 to '00 vehicles". Is the MACH system different for '04?

For 1994 thru 2000, you'll need the Metra 70-5510.
For 2001 thru 2002, you'll need the Metra 70-5519.
For 2003 thru 2004, you'll need the Metra 70-5521.

Too bad, I have a 5510 that I never used which I would have given away for the price of a stamp

Did you pull the dash and check out of curiosity? Its not uncommon to find a different hrns in the dash. Sometimes the used the old hrns's until they ran out or sometimes they are switched for other reasons but its amazing how often you can find the wrong hrns or wiring in the car then what is supposed to be there.

Pulling the deck to either confirm the hrns is wrong or to start the install is a 2-3 min job.

It turns out it takes five days in my case.:p

I received the Metra 70-5521 harness today and it's what I need.

I also have an Axxess AFDI-5V 12 volt to 5 volt converter for the amp signal.

I'm pretty sure I have this figured out, but for the sake of clarity, the AMP Turn-On signal coming from the large harness is wired to the 5V converter then the 5 volt output is wired to the two wires on the smaller harness (with RCA connectors) which will supply 5 volt turn-on signals to two amps, right?

Correct, the two wires coming out of the RCA part (smaller) of the Metra 70-5521 adapters are tied together and then connected to the remote wire from your aftermarket stereo.

Ok, one more question (I hope)
The Metra 70-5521 harness provides two RCA connectors going to the factory amps. One white and one Red.
Do these connect to the front, rear, or sub woofer outputs on the Kenwood head unit?

front or rear unless you disconnect the tweeters and run them off of the deck power which is easy too do and sounds better. If you power the tweeters yourself then you can connect to the sub output and use it to control the factory subs.

So the head unit is now installed and working great!
Thanks everyone for the tips.

Now another question:

I have a co-worker with a 2002 GT equipped with a MACH audio system.
The CD player is jammed and I brought mine to work for a quick swap in the parking lot.
It turns out, the connectors are different for the '02 versus my '04.
Is there a harness available to convert?
I suppose it's possible to go wire to wire, but I was hoping for something much simpler if it exists.

Hey fellas, really sorry to resurrect an 8 year old thread, but I'm getting ready to install a Kenwood double din in my 2002. It has the Mach 460 sound system. No subwoofer, so the 2 RCA inputs need to go where? The install guide says to the subwoofer preout, but again, no subwoofer on the Mach 460, so how do you decide between front or rear preouts?
