Major interior changes for me

I started tearing down my interior for some changes. I plan on installing Noico 80 mil sound deadener, and then their 150 ccf on top of that.
I'm also gutting the entire Mach 460 (including the harness), and installing an all new stereo setup. 6x8 component set up front, 6x8 coaxials out back, and a 10" sub in the trunk. All powered off one 5 channel amp.

I also have an 04 console that I had to spray dye to match the black interior (SEM Landau Black). Along with the console, I have a new mass backed carpet to install too. Top it all off with my Corbeau LG1 Seats. I've had them in the car for about 400 miles or so, not sure if those count as new too.
I got a few pieces back from paint that I will be installing during all this process too. I figured you guys may want to follow along.

First thing I did was go out back and tear all the stuff out of the trunk area, and prepped it for the sound deadener.

I covered a good amount of the trunk in the SD but I haven't taken a pic of it yet, as I have a bunch of shit sitting back there as I work on the interior.

Next thing I did was pull the rear seat, the rear quarter trim, and the rear deck area. Got all that covered in SD and the ccf as well.

After finishing off the back half it was onto the front half of the interior.
....aaaaaaaand it's gone.

I started laying out more SD and eventually ran out.

For those counting, that is 2 boxes of the Noico SD (72 square ft total), and 1 box of the Noico 150mil ccf.
I still need to finish the driver's side trans tunnel and do the 2 doors. Another box of SD will be here tomorrow. Once the SD is done, I'll be laying down a later of the ccf on the entire floor/trans tunnel as well.

Well, since I'm out of SD for now, today I installed the rear speakers and made an amp rack to mount under the rear deck. The amp rack mounts using 4 of the originals holes in the rear deck that were used to hold up that Mach 460 monstrosity.

Tonight I'll throw some carpet on the amp rack. I plan on doing it in 3 sperate pieces so I can unscrew the bottom of the rack and access everything for the amp, while leaving the two side pieces still mounted.

I would possibly start planning on adding a fan for that amp rack. Your almost putting inside of an enclosure, at the top/hottest part of the trunk where the top will be exposed to full sun/heat when it is sunny out and I would not be be surprised if it shuts down for heat if your really jamming it for a little while in the summer

I thought about that, but I'm really not worried about it. The Mach amps were up in the same area, only they were wedged in that heavy hunk of plastic that the speakers were mounted in. They had zero air flowing across them. My mount should be no deferent that mounting it to the rear seat, or anywhere in the trunk really.
Not to mention that I am almost done insulating the entire interior, so it shouldn't be as hot as it normally would be.

Here is a couple pics of the Mach piece (not mine). The top has the speakers, and on the bottom, you can see the 2 amps wedged in there. No airflow at all. This is certainly better than that.

Wrapped the little amp rack in carpet last night .
It should look pretty nice up there. It's going to be tucked up and mostly out of the line of sight.
The bottom of the rear deck is covered in the reflective SD, and the top of the amp has a red light across the top of it, so it should give a cool affect once it's all in there and installed.

Also got a chance to make a couple mounts for the tweeters. They are just mounting into the existing Mach "tweeter" pods in the doors, so they were simple enough to make in a few minutes. The reason for the quotes around the tweeter pod, is that the Mach upper speakers are actually for highs and midrange. The lower 6x8 in the door and on the rear deck were for bass only. No midrange from those.PXL_20220414_162519949.jpg

the mach amp mounting was less than ideal as well as most amp manf say not to mount them like this for heat problems but they were also designed to be put there and designed for it I would hope. The JL has a temp protection built into it for when it does get to hot and it will shut off. Don't be surprised if it does cut off on a hot day when your jamming on it for a while. You might be able to see the temp led on when it happens, just turn it off and leave it alone to cool off(and start planning that fan) and it will be ok.

I'm 99% sure it'll be fine. This isn't my first rodeo. I've installed an amp in the same manor on a Fusion. I've also installed amps BEHIND custom beauty panels that I've made in the past. This one has plenty of trunk space to circulate. The sub should help move some air around a bit too

I had time earlier to install the front speakers. These Focals are great for doors because they just use 2 inline crossovers. No bulky plastic box to hide from the weather.

After that I had a few minutes left, so I snaked in the RCAs behind the dash to the back of the radio. I went with KnuKonceptz for my wiring. All OFC.

that grey stuff is really nice. lightweight and helps absorb different frequencies than the shiny/black stuff.

Yeah, it's really easy to work with too. Sticks great also. I'm hoping to really quiet down the cabin a bit. We shall see.
I've only added about 70 lbs total to the car, and it's all down low, so not so bad. I have a bunch of lightweight parts to make up for it anyway.

Bought a coin holder delete, and sprayed it with the same interior dye as the console, then I threw a small, subtle SVT decal on there. I like the result much better than a dusty coin holder or a random shiny aluminum oval on the console.PXL_20220416_131617045.jpg

Very nice. I'm interested to hear if the road noise and vibration cuts down with all the sound deadening. Also did you just run new wires for all the sound stuff or use some of the existing mach 460 wiring for door speakers and such

Thank you. I'm almost done at this point.
I put the carpet in today, and reinstalled the door panels. I didn't take any pics though. I l take some tomorrow.
I tested all the wiring/amp out today and everything fired up so there's that!

No Mach stuff left in the car, other than the upper door pod that I reused to house the tweeters. I ran new wires through the doors and news wires for the speakers in the rear deck. If you look at the pic of the door speakers, you can see the new speaker wire that connects the tweet to the mid. All my speakers wires for to the back of the car, nothing is powered off the radio, so the OEM wires were useless anyway. The driver's side speaker wire is ziptied to the factory wire loom, and then I ran the 4ga power wire and the 12v turn-on wire about 6" from the factory loom to avoid any sound interference.

Very nice. I'll get there one day. Rip out all the mach stuff and just run it all off the head unit.

Yeah I suppose you could always rip out all the Mach stuff and run 4 coaxials off a new headunit.
