The film grain on the expired film just makes those photos look so period correct

I know what you mean! The SN looks so good on film. I had shot a lot of digital before this, so I was very familiar with shooting this car. Photographing the same car on film really helped me get used to it more quickly.

Another one is my '97 Mark VIII LSC, she always looks great with film!

January 2019. I did some light painting at sunrise. Awesome result!

January 2019. I shot a roll of Kodak Ektachrome slide film, and the result was great. It made the Laser Red look incredible!

February 2019. We took the Mustang for a weekend road trip through southern New Mexico, to enjoy the hot springs and some fabulous roads. The car did great. However it had always leaked oil. And just in this weekend, it leaked a whole quart. I finally decided I was done topping off and ordered some parts...

February 2019. I had theorized that my oil leak was the rear main seal. So, I ordered a McLeod clutch and new rear main seal. I took the flywheel to get resurfaced and knocked out the seal before putting it all back together.

March 2019. So began the 500mi clutch break in, so it was pretty much cruise around Albuquerque and snap pics! Here's a Sunday morning downtown cruise. Everything felt better. The original pilot bearing had turned to dust, and there was zero grease on the pivot ball or bearing retainer. With a fresh coat of grease, the clutch engagement was incredibly easy.

March 2019. I quickly found out that the rear main seal didn't do much for my oil leak. It was coming from somewhere else. I traced the oil up the side of the bellhousing to the intake manifold area. So I took it apart to install new gaskets. All I'd done was hobbyist wrenching when I originally installed the manifold. Well, when you end up doing it professionally, you learn a few things. Such as, putting silicone in the corners! So I reinstalled the manifold with a new gasket set and a nice blob of silicone in the corners where the china rail meets the head. Come to find out, this is still the "wrong" way. These days it's always a 1/4" bead of silicone on the china rails for me.

March 2019. Had to get fancy and bust out the real camera for some pics. Here it is all stripped down, and with the lower installed.

April 2019. After the clutch break in I got to take the car for a nice drive. Ended up with snow, and then blue skies and hour later. That's New Mexico for you...

April 2019. After the intake manifold and rear main seal repair, there was still an oil leak. It wasn't nearly as bad as before, so I decided it was good enough to take to the road course for my first track day in the SN. It was the first open track day of the season, and it was a blast! I'd driven several of my dad's cars on track, but it's a much more satisfying feeling to be ripping it in your own car. I learned a lot and found some room for improvement in the car. Gotta flex in that Maximum Motorsports t-shirt too...

I think the early Mark VIII looks great, but yes the later ones are definitely my favorite. I really lucked out with mine. The body color grille and trim on the LSC definitely completes the look!

IMO, the only thing wrong with that car is the transmission... they should have been available in manual!

I know what you mean! I've visited plenty of other places and thought the same thing. Not in the Mustang of course.

But, lucky for me I have many other cars to tackle the not so nice city streets around here! I know the backroads in my area very well, so I stick to the well paved ones. The car is currently higher than this, but still pretty low.

IMO, the only thing wrong with that car is the transmission... they should have been available in manual!

Or at the minimum a 5-speed auto with manual mode. The auto in mine is what finally gave out. Had the low-speed shudder that got progressively worse.

Fun fact, there was a guy that was making Vortec adapter kits for them for a while. Called them TerminVIIIors or something like that.

Depending on what parts of NM your in
They spend quite a bit on roads
And some roads are junk old wagon trail junk

see now az doesn't have the pot hole problem that most places have since it doesn't freeze, but they do NOT play around with their speed bumps and the drains on the side of the roads funny enough. It does not rain there often but when it does it can really come down and because of that they shape their roads with a little more curve to them to allow water to drain faster. Because of that there were some corners where the roads met that I had had to be careful around as it was still at stock ride height I had places I had to avoid or it would scrape.
