Well, the old red beast has been a bit neglected lately, and I noticed yesterday the hood looked awful. At first I was super worried it was beyond repair, but I decided to give it a shot this morning.
You always want to be super careful with carbon fiber because it's a pain to get done once it poops out. So, better to make sure your paint doesn't flake away because they use the cheapest clear they can when doing these parts up typically.
Products used:
Porter Cable 7424 XP
Did not use any car wash, yea, shame on me. I just used some water and the sponge to clean it off real quick.
Nanoskin synthetic clay bar buffing bad
Nano skin clay lube
Meguiars M105 and M205
Unknown brand Microfiber buffing pad
Bullet Proof Speed Seal (Thanks Obsessive Detail I love this stuff!)
Nano Skin Clay lube and sealant
Moose Wax from Obsessive Detail (the green stuff, I forget the brand)
Basically I wiped the hood down.
Hit it with clay lube and the clay buffing pad
Went over it M105 with the microfiber buffing pad
Went over it with M205 with the microfiber buffing pad
Went back over it with clay lube and the clay buffing pad
Hit it with the bullet proof speed seal
Hit it with the Nanoskin clay lube with sealant in it for added protection and more smoothing
Topped it off with the moose wax
Smiled because I love carbon fiber.
Anyhow, onto pics:
This is just after a wipe down with the sponge. Looks pretty rough.
After the first round of clay, then hit with M105.
After M205
All done
Yay beading water again
This section has been pretty dead lately. Had to bring it back.
