So of course I am getting a run of bad luck one after another... I replaced my starter and solved my starting issue, but after i finished I drove the car away, got on the interstate and all of a sudden 4th gear feels like neutral. I don't have an idea what the problem could be. It was not slipping at all before and is showing no codes. The fluid level is correct and every other gear pulls like its supposed to.
Drop the pan and see what's up. Might be time for that 5 speed swap that you've got suck a hard on for lol
UPDATE: Now the car wont do anything! I start it and put it in drive and slips really bad for a second and then neutalizes. I can shut the car off and start it and it will take drive again but once i get 100 yards or so it goes neutral and won't take gear at all.
just noticed that there is a really loud whine( almost like a power steering whine) but only in park, neutral, and reverse. when i put it in drive the whine stops, but it does not move. no movement in reverse either.
I also fear a torque converter as the culprit. All of my fuses are good and I just replaced the range sensor/neutral start switch and it's doing the same thing.
I am not an expert but from my basic understanding that's seems to be the start and when one goes the rest follow. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Basically pump was going and now converter is totally kaput!! Replace with nice big stall or do a 5/6spd swap!!!! This message courtesy of crapatalk!
Ok. So I have a Budget of $1500 and I'd like to do a 5 speed swap. I see a lot of T5s out of Foxes for sale, whats the difference between it and my 2000? Is any specific year t5 better than another?
Iirc world class was a lil stronger version of the t5. We would need a veteran on here who knows older trannys to confirm. This message courtesy of crapatalk!
World class t5 is an undated version of the original t5. I think they started using them around 85ish, so most of the fox body and sn95 t5s are actually the world class t5s.
the input shafts are different lengths from a fox to the new edge v6. if I remember fox is 9.75 and v6 is 10.25"
That's correct. I was talking about the mounting of the trans. I got mine from a 98 so no changes but I have that .73 od which is worse on the highway than the 4r70w
