This is my 1966 Coup. It is a original 289 automatic. I now have the front end out from under the car getting it ready for the new front end. I also plan on putting in a drive train out of a 03/04 Cobra. I have located a donor car with 17,000 miles on it.
Putting a 4.6 in this brat will make selling my 1968GT worth while. If I am not mistaken stock 03/04 Cobra's ran low 13's. In wieght reduction alone I should be in the mid to high 12's. Also it will turn some heads at car shows.
Yeah, that' going to haul, I'm planning n the same setup, Terminator engine and tranny, but on a 67 fastback, I already have a 68 couple but I'll probably sell it when I get done with my tour oversea's and search for a 67 project. Looks good, and good luck on the project, 12's on street tires will be no problem, 10's on slicks and with a few bolt on's won't be that hard either if you can keep the frame straight with the type of launches required for those times.
That looks an awsome project Matt. Is that the paint job that has been sitting for like ten years? If so, damn that still looks great!
No bud, in the hands of geeks who cant drive they ran low 13's with good drivers they run mid 12's EASY. So if you can drive : 12's is all but guaranteed. Great project, keep us posted on progress.
The garage is 24x40. With the new front end and full subs she should hold together. Yip that is the paint job I had done in 1993. It has held up pretty good for the storage it has been in. It has more nicks and scratches from sitting than being driven. But I have some touch up paint to fix it up.
Thanks, I am very happy with the color. The only thing that would make it better would be some black LeMans stripes over the top. That is also the original color of the car.
