So, most of know I've been toying with buying a SVT Lightning for over a year now. In fact, I had taken a loan out last September to buy an '01 but backed out at the last minute. As it turns out that was a wise choice as we found our house three months later. Had I bought the truck, I likely wouldn't have been able to buy the house too. I've been in talks with a local man, Kenny, since last fall about his mint condition, '99 Lightning. Once my credit score comes back up a few more points, I will be purchasing it in the fourth quarter of this year.

The truck has an interesting story. Taken apart to be built into a race truck at 7400 miles, Kenny bought it and totally restored (completely disassembled for paint) it to its current 13000 mile state:

Solid rear glass swap, shaved tail gate handle and roll pan:

Already has the center console mod completed:

This is the cleanest F150, let alone a Lightning that I've ever seen:

I have a few ideas for mods but it will stay mostly stock while it has a note. That means not cracking the engine in my world.

This truck with 20" replica wheels, 01-04 lights, billet grilles, cowl hood and tail gate spoiler has the perfect stance and look, IMO:

Another specimen with the Cervini's tail gate spoiler but with tinted tail lights and a roll pan like the one on Kenny's truck:

'Blackcenting" goes well with red paint:

Can actually autocross in the CAM-C class for fun:

I had a 99 and 01 and they were almost perfect as is for daily driver duties. I catch myself from time to time combing autotrader and have to slap myself. They are pulling big money right now and I think a Raptor might be a better buy for what you get.

I have actually looking at 1st gen's too since I have never owned one. Would be a good 3 season work truck for me.

A first gen L with an IFS and a Coyote swap would be epic.

Raptors are nice but you're talking high $20k to low $30k with high miles (70k+) for the earlier extended cab version. The crew cab trucks command a premium. If I'm going to get 10-14 mpg from a truck that won't ever see more than one passenger, I'm buying a single cab.

Haaa! Where do you come up with this stuff lol. Thats clean and super low miles! Did they come boosted in 99?

Yes, they were all supercharged from 99-04. This one makes 360/440 from the factory and will likely run low/mid 14's, as is.

oh and I'm a warped bastard..

Don't get me started...

It's so ridiculously easy to make the Gen2's look good. A good mix of some tasteful black accents (since it is red), the right height, and in my opinion they gotta have the tailgate spoiler...and that completely transforms the looks of the truck.

That is the recipe I'm going to follow!

Edit EDIT:
The first pic is actually a dent-side F100 (and a 2v FTW) but who cares. I think I'm eventually gonna ditch the I-beams in my truck and go ifs.
