Having owned a full-size GMC pickup, my wife is no stranger to the V-8/RWD layout. But, obviously, a pickup is not a muscle car. So I've been letting her drive my '99 as much as possible. And she loves it. She took it over 100 for the first time yesterday, which was fun. I enjoy watching her transform into a speedfreak. But she's still not quite there. I had to take over and show her a glimpse of what is possible with a bit of enthusiasm and an on-ramp. That was also fun.

Guess this means a Mustang is a gateway drug. Going to see how long it takes before she wants her own.

When we got the 94, I was 19 and the girlfriend I had at the time would get mad if I slightly touched the gas. One night I put her behind the wheel and let her open it up and saw that same transformation you described. I can remember asking her if she liked it and telling her to leave me alone when I do it from then on.

My wife had no interest in cars other than transportation when we met. She got tired of my going to cruises alone and wanted her own toy car. JBA shorties and H-pipe, 17 in. wheels, lowered, CAI, PI intake swap, style bar, and more.

Epic. My wife likes a lot of cars. She's just never understood the appeal of loud, fast cars. Until now.

On the other side of things, please keep the speeding to a track or to yourself and not a loved one.

Poor car. Looks like it had a turbo setup on it.

Yes, step 1: Respect the car/power

Last summer there was a fatal accident about 3 miles from my house. It was a 95 turbo'ed Cobra, he hit a small bump in the road. He got the car airborne and ended up colliding with a tree about 12 ft off the ground.

You could not even recognize most of the car.

Contrary to popular opinion, speed does not kill. And going slow doesn't guarantee safety. Inattentiveness kills.

I would run your 99 in my 90 c1500. It's "stock'ish."
