Gent's, My CD Player still powers up but does not play. It accepts the CD Pushed in than after 10 seconds, ejects it. All worked perfectly until a few days back. Now I am faced with repair, rebuild, or all out replacement ( Unless there's a simple fix , like head cleaning: eg). As my Title infers, It's a 97 Original Deck. To save a lot of headache, I have researched that a full out replacement may be in order. ((Main- Question)).....What are the most compatible Units that can replace my deck, if I cannot find the original. Not interested in used originals or rebuilds, just a suitable Model that will work well, and is well known for compatibility. Please give me your take on this ASAP, Need it resolved. Thank you

You have three options:

1. No CD.
2. Replace with a used or rebuilt original.
3. Replace your radio and CD with an aftermarket unit.

There is no stand alone CD player that is compatible with your system other than the original.

I had this same problem in my 94 and have it in my 97 Cobra.

IMO the aftermarket units look cheesy and certainly dont look like they fit in our cars.

This is the route I think Im going on my 97, The CD slot will be replaced with a cubby that runs about $30.

Plenty of aftermarket CD players fit just fine. They may not perfectly blend in but our cars aren’t worth a dollar more for havin that crap in there.

Just switch the whole unit out and enjoy modern technology

The stock mach amps have been known to be battery drains when the car is off for some time. With that being said I have worked at a couple of shops that did factory repairs for a fair price. It could be as simple as a dirty laser lens and be as simple as running a laser lens cleaning disk through it.
