I was doing head gaskets on my first 4.6 engine mustang I ever owned the rest have all been 5.0s so I was having a buddy of mine help everything was going smoothly until I had to make a quick run to the auto parts store and I left him in charge for a while you got carried away remove the timing cover and started messing with the timing chain and he accidentally rotated the crank on the camshaft and rotated the crank itself the chain skipped over a few links I don't want to continue if it's gonna be a waste of time I don't want to have the engine fail on me as soon as I put it all back together can anyone help me I don't know if my post is Making any sense or not I just hope my car can be put back and run normal

Is the engine completely stock? No modification?
If so, all thats needed is to reset the factory timing and it pretty simple.

Your gonna have to remove the chains to reset. Sounds treacherous ...I know, but really its not.

Take the chains off, place on clean surface like pictured and mark those links with paint.
These links will match the timing indentation marks on the cam and crank sprocket.
