so i took apart my buddies dash in his new edge to replace a leaking heater core and the evaporator core. I pulled the dash, pulled the housing and cut what I needed and sealed everything back up and put it all back together. Everything went smooth for this being my first time. But.... now the air isn’t blowing through the vents and the speakers aren’t working?? What did I do wrong? Everything is plugged in. The only thing I can guess is a little ground in the middle of the dash, or perhaps the harness plug that goes behind the fender well?

Is the ac blowing out of the defrost vents on every mode? If so its because of loss of vacuum, the vacuum line to the blend door actuator isnt connected.

As far as the speakers, it could be anything really. Have you checked the fuses? Pull the radio and chack that all the plugs are tight.

Yes that’s exactly what it’s doing, would it be the line going from the fire wall near the evaporator core to the engine bay?

What is the vacuum line in the engine bay attached to? Do you hear a hiss inside the car with the engine running? Make sure the vacuum line going to the ac panel is connected and if you can get to it check for vacuum. Im not sure where the check valve is for these cars but on crown vics there is a check valve under the hood. If its stuck shut it wont allow vacuum to move the actuator. Or it could even be the control panel itself.

those vac lines look pretty original and I bet there is a leak somewhere else. Try starting it up and spraying some cleaner around the lines and see if the idle changes.

found it! I was breaking my neck trying to find a leak on the lines on the passenger side, looked over on the drivers side and found the hose... airs blowing like it should and I’ve accomplished my first heater core and evaporator core job, not to bad overall. Thanks for the help guys!
