Hey guys and girls . I'm matt and New here . I have a question. I have a 03 gt . I'm putting in a fully built motor with forged cobra crank . What clutch will I need ? The 6 bolt 10 spline or 8 bolt 26 spine ? Thank you and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this .

Forged cobra cranks will need an 8 bolt flywheel. The splines have to do with what transmission/input shaft you are running. 26 spline are an upgraded input shaft. Standard are 10 spline at least on t45 and 3650. Also you need to look at how many inch clutch you will run. 10.5 or 11".

That being said. Which transmission are you going to run and is the input shaft upgraded?

The 03 Gt manuals came 8 bolt crankshafts and all Cobra modular mustangs came 8 bolt crankshafts, so you should be good to use an 8bolt flywheel. Take note to clutch size with the 8bolt flywheel selection as they come 10.5" or 11". Pre- 2000 clutches 10.5" and 2001 up 11"

I have the 3650 and it is the tranny that came factory so I'm guessing it's a 10 spline so I'll need the upgrade ? And was going to go with an 11 . Will that work or do I need the 10.5. I'm goin to get a fly wheel also

romeo engines mid 01-04 have 6 bolt cranks. Windsor 96-00 have 8 bolt cranks as well as 4v cars.

If it is a stock 3650, you will want a 10 spline 11" clutch. And if you are running a cobra crank you will want an 8 bolt flywheel.

What I mean by upgrading the 26 spline input shaft is. If you are sending the transmission out to have hardened or cryotreated gears, stronger shift forks installed, typically they install a beefier 26 apline input shaft as well. If that's the case. You need a 26 spline clutch. If you aren't building your tranny to that extent the 26 spline clutch won't fit.

Let's rewind. The 10.5" vs 11" is the diameter of the contact surface of the clutch. The input shaft of your transmission has splines. 10 of them on a factory trans.

If using an unmodified. Transmission. You will want the 11" clutch 10 spline. And you will want an 8 bolt flywheel. Mcleod RST is a badass clutch. I have it in my green car. It is a very light clutch that can hold a respectable amount of power. Highly recommend that and a matching mcleod lightened steel or aluminum flywheel. Both are great options.

This is the motor . Teksid block , trickflow heads , all forged internals . Vortec Procharger, edelbrock victor jr . Upgraded to 8 rib pulleys. Is there anything you would know that I need to know when I put it in .

Are you putting the engine in from below Using a lift and dropping the K member? Or are you cherry picking it in from the top?

If that's the case add the tranny/headers and send it up in 1 shot. Very nice parts list. I can only suggest if someone else assembled it that you crank it over by hand first to make sure no PTV occurs and everything is smooth. Those tfs heads are fantastic. You will love them. A guy I talk to occasionally out in PA has a v1 TI trim on his built motor. Ported pi heads though. Think he made 640whp @ 18 lbs through an auto trans. The tfs heads make more power with less boost.

Thank you. We turned it over . It's smooth . I got a bunch of paper work and bills from the place that built it . It was done right . I can't wait to get it in. Someone told me the v1 will only make 10-12. How did dude get 18 ?
