On my 1996 mustang gt I am replacing both the coolant temp sensor and coolant temp sender. From what I’ve gathered (mixed info) it looks like the sender, which is the green sensor, is the one located on the passenger side of the engine bay. I hooked that one up and wired a new pigtail in. As for the sensor on the driver side, I had to order another because I accidentally broke it installing it because I got a cheap one which I could afford. I need to know which wire goes to which wire on my new pigtail connector because the previous owner snipped the existing connector off so I have no idea. I have a light green/red wire and a grey/red wire leading up to the coolant temp sensor on the driver side. Which wire goes where on my new sensor’s pigtail? Please help. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure those sensors are only resistance based. I don’t believe the wire position matters.

If that’s the case then I’m in good hands, I have some new pigtails that are not color coded so I’m not sure which wire is to go with which.
