About the wing....i like the wing, me myself loves a HUGE bat wing. One of them pikes peak hill climb racecar bat wings. And you are right about the wing collaborating with the hood. Its all coming together and looks faaaaantastic!
lol yea wings seem to be one of those things that people either love or hate. I was not a big fan of it however after painting it to match the hood i think it looks pretty good and ties the front and back of the car together. The funny thing is the only reason we ended up with this wing was that the stock one was broken and this one was on marketplace and it was cheap. I am not opposed to large wings though, I had this one on my Z06 to try and keep the back in from getting light on the track.

Thanks! I see you spend some time on the track, what group or series are you running in? I am planning on teaching the boy to autocross in this car.
some? lol i spend a lot of time at the track

originally built my car for american iron in nasa, but the class doesnt really exist in northern california anymore. just this year actually its starting to get started back up (AIX) from some friends of mine. im running TT right now and was going to run ST after the cage got finished, but maybe ill be going back to try AIX in the near future, who knows. i want the competition and i know i can find that in the ST classes. well see what happens over the next few years

Looking now, the one thing I wish is that my car was a coupe rather than a vert. I just couldn't pass up the deal on the trade for the car though. I guess I can try to find a cheap shell and move everything from the vert to the coupe, but yeah. I really wanna track my car, but a vert makes it less feasible.

I'd love to build a track car someday... if I lived near somewhere like Sonoma I'd have a harder time waiting.

Right before we moved from Indiana to Florida I purchased a old NASA Corvette to play with however sold it when we moved and never got around to doing anything with it.

the universe wanted you to get a mustang instead lol

and a vert can be plenty acceptable as a track car, just make sure its stiff enough and safe enough

Your car has definitely come a long way and had a few different iterations.

You also look like you live around a few other mustangs as well in the neighborhood.

yesterday started the fun of cutting and buffing the paint, I hate this part. However we also had the tires taken off the wheels to start refinishing them and found one had a crack in it. It is something that the boy can weld up and fix but will take some time. We found a set of “cobra?” Wheels local on Facebook marketplace and he will take $300 for the set.

Is this a good deal?

This week end I was able to get roof and entire passenger side buffed. I did not go too extreme with the buffing due to it being a cheap project we tried to use the most inexpensive products as possible to complete it. I did not have any compounds or pads left that were usable, so we had to order all new items. The process I went with and seemed to work was wet sand the entire car with 1500 grit followed by 2000 grit. I then used a wool pad on the high-speed buffer and Mequiars "105" cutting compound followed by meguiars "205" light compound on a medium foam pad and orbital buffer. I finished up with Meguiars show glaze by hand. It is by far perfect however considering we painted it in the garage with the door pretty much open in the Florida heat and it was the first time the kid had ever sprayed a car, it came out pretty decent.

1. Buffing supplies $180

Total for all these supplies = $180. We are now $3253 into this project.

New set of wheels? Or tires?
We ordered just wheels. I have a tire guy from when i use to race that hooks me up on tires. He sent me 1 to try (a brand i have never used) on the car to make sure there were no fitment issues before sending the remainder of them. below are the wheels we ordered along with the tare he sent to try.

I had some Riken AS tires on an older Avalon a few years ago, they did fine.

yes, those are a good deal. theyre 99 01 cobra rims

however, the wheels that are on the car now are more than definitely wider than those cobras
We ended up passing on them and just ordered new, there goes the budget. The main reason we ordered new was to get the wider rears.
