Came across the forum while doing research. I picked up a 1997 Mustang GT Convertible, harvest orange with a little over 140K on the odometer. The last Ford engines I worked on was the older 5.0 and 5.8's. I'm mostly a Chevy guy so hopefully I can be schooled on the modular engines. Will post pics when I get around to it.

Your dues are doubled then but I take check and it doesn't even have to be one of your own.
Ha ha. Well Most of the fords I’ve owned were trucks. In Europe I owned a 1983 Capri and a 1992 Escort RS Cosworth. I’m digging this car but I’d like to build her a new engine.

Welcome to the site, there's a lot of mod motor guys on here that can teach you a lot. They're not that bad to work on but it helps if you know some of the shortcuts for working on them

OK. I need some better pics but there is time for it. So , 1997 GT, 5-speed, Autumn Orange. Nothing major done yet. Flowmaster exhaust (Cat-Back), BBK Cold-Air Intake, Aftermarket 17's. I've had the car since April of this year. This weekend I'm installing new rotors and a brake job. I have some Eibach Pro springs and shocks on their way as well.

I'm looking at building a new engine, something mild in the 350 to 375hp range. I'd be happy with 350. I'll gladly take any suggestions although I'll probably stick with a decent short block kit and build it from there. Because I'm not looking for tons of power I can stay mostly stock on the bottom end. Thoughts?

When I build the engine I will then change out the X Pipe and go with headers, swap in a better built transmission, and a built rear-end.

Nice stang like it
have you changed the gears on the differential yet 3.73 will get the car going
on the 4.6 sohc engines a lot of these guys have good ideas
I myself am experimenting with 4.6 dohc and a lot of knowledge on 5.0 engines
just ask, these guys will chime in to help you

I have not swapped gears yet. That will happen when I swap the rear-end out for something better. Do I need it? No. But if I decide to ever pump the engine up more I'd rather not do this twice.

The cosworth will give you a special pass for the hazing, but that isn't always a good thing.

Harvest orange rocks pics or ban...

Harvest orange is one of my favorite colors on the sn’s. I wish they’d bring it back.
