Everything I have checked said that they have either 5x7 or 6x8. Both use the same mounting template so I think either should fit.

Crutchfield says the

KFC-6865S fits the front door and rear side panels.
KFC-1665S DOES NOT FIT a 2002 Mustang Convertible

But it does say a Rockford 6.5" fits the front door, idk. Why not just stick with all the same speaker? Get 4 6x8's all the way around, make it easy.

Honestly I'd put 6.5's instead of the 6x8's IMO they sound better. I'm sure Scott will chime in

I did 6.5's all around in my vert but used coax's in rear and a component set in front with tweets in mach 460 tweet location.

if someone here can hear the difference between a 6.5 and a comparable 5 x 7 then they have better ears then me.

5x7/6x8 sometimes give just a lil bit better bass but if you are putting in a sub then you should have a hi-pass turned on for the interior speakers and bass won't matter.

They appear to be running off of the head unit. In that case it really doesn't matter. Not much of an audible difference at such low RMS.

EDIT: Sonic Electronix is a good vendor, I personally just spent a pretty penny there a few weeks ago on some audio parts like my Rockford http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61rlYRRS8NL._SX425_.jpg 8 inch drivers and a JL 12W7. They will respond fast and have good prices.

I have Kicker 6x8 2 ways in my car and they sound great. Like already said you wont be able to tell a difference in such a tight space. I thought about going with a component setup but honestly for the price difference it just wasnt worth it. Plenty of highs from the mids and just enough bass from the two 10" Kicker Comps I have.

Oh yeah forgot to answer the Sonic Electronics part of question... I have ordered a few things there because they had the lowest prices but service was not compromised at all.

Yes, 6 1/2 rear speakers are what the Mach Systems have in the convertibles. I am not certain as to the non-Mach. I would get a better amp than that Boss. I was running Infinity Kappa 6x* Components in the front and 6 1/2 in the rear, Pioneer AVHP4200 headunit, Diamond Audio D310 subs, Diamond Audio D600.4 and D1000.1 Amps. I am getting rid of my Infinity Kappa Components and going Diamond Audio D6 Components. This is essentially how both my set ups will be in the Convertible and Cobra.
