So this is going to be a long one lol.
A couple days ago I get in the car drive park at a store and when I go to restart it it acts as if the battery is dead. So I throw a jump pack on it and it starts right up. Drive over to autozone to ask them to test the battery and they say its all good because i bought the battery a week ago. I attempt to start the car now with someone watching and it again does not start. BUT this time as soon as I let off the key a small decent puff of smoke comes out of my TFI/ICM. So I jump the car again and drive it home with no puff of smoke.
I instantly thought TFI issue so I replaced it just to have the same issue. Now with all that in mind I figured it was a ground or short issue, so I started going through my harnesses. Out of the one I took out of the car I found a couple terrible done splices. I took apart the plug for the distributor and saw a bare wire along with like a fuse whatever thing (picture attached) I had no clue what this was so I took the harness out of my parts car and just dropped it in mine because I thought that was the issue but now I am not to sure. I have not attempted to start the car since I keep digging and finding the neverending about of posibilities that it could be.
It is worth mentioning that my oil pressure gauge flickers after the car is hot and i go down to below 1k. My fan was giving me a code for not working but it was. Horn did not work when I press the button but when I locked the car on the FOB it went off. I was attempting to track all of these down but this came up in the middle of this as in new CCRM new oil pressure sensor.
Has anyone delt with a similar situation? Is there something I should check? Could it be the PIP in the distribtuor itself, and what does a bad PIP do?
TIA but I have a feeling this is not going to be a quick fix.
