1995 Cobra. My shifter bezel (plastic part around the shifter that attaches to the leather boot and center console) creaks something fierce. I’d really love to eliminate the noise or at least make it tolerable. I can’t be the only one. Has anybody found a way to successfully get this specific piece to be quiet? All of the clips where it attaches to the center console are in place, and it locks in as tight as it should be. It’s just…plastic on plastic creaking at an almost comical level when the car is moving at any speed.

In the past, I’ve had mixed results by shoving paper towels into spaces, tape, felt, or lubrication but just looking at this piece I have my doubts that any of those Mickey Mouse hack-methods will prove effective.

I know these cars are known for this sort of thing, but my Cobra is low-mile and fairly tight inside still, so this noise really stands out.

I typically use a thin one sided sticky foam window seal. As thin as you can find at home depot or lowes. That typically helps a lot. I did the radio bezel as well with it

Thank you! I'll track some of this down, it makes sense to me. Speaking of, I get a little of the creaking from the radio bezel as well so I might as well take care of that whole area.

It's not a bad idea and it's pretty cheap. Just remember to be realistic when selecting how thick the foam is lol, it compresses but not a whole lot as some of those panels fit tight

Interesting, I never had any rattles from the shifter bezel itself. Best I can say is just make sure all the clips are intact.

If you have any other rattles I have a post out somewhere on here.

My 95 GT went from sounding like a wooden board flexing and creaking to almost silent. Feels like a Lexus now. I would know, I owned an LS400 before the GT.
