Well due to my motor falling on its face I’m looking to do a pi swap. I found a complete pi motor from an 01 GT with around 90k miles. I know a ton of people have done this swap, but I want to know how I can slap it in as smoothly as possible. Will it run with the stock computer? Would I have to tune it? What should I know ahead of time? I believe I’d have to swap the timing cover and oil pan from the npi motor to the pi one is that true?

Yes, shouldnt have any problems. If there is problem, its not something difficult.

I don't remember any head swaps requiring oil pan changes. Plenty of stories of head swaps done in-chassis. If you were swapping in a crown Vic engine then that's different. No?

I know why now, duh. The oil level sensor was thrifted out later on. If you want to keep it functional you need the oil pan swapped.
