Wondering if anyone has used the cheap, under $10 Ebay bluetooth dongles with success. I have purchased two different ones and downloaded 4 different apps to an older Samsung android phone. I can get an app to connect to the dongle but it then will not connect to the car's ECU. Tried both dongles on my 2000 GT and my wifes 2002 V6, but I can take the same dongle plug in to my 2014 Chevy Cruze or my sons 2004 Subaru and read everything on the phone app.

I wanted to use the phone as a digital dash of sorts. If anyone has had success with connecting to the ECU let me know which OBDII bluetooth dongle and app works.

I have an Elm327 dongle that I paid like 9 bucks for a few years back. I use it all the time with Forscan. It works well but I do have some initial connectivity issues sometimes.

I'll have to try Forscan. These are the dongles I bought, both ELM327

The second one is close to what I bought. Mine has a blue and orange label. I guess that’s the original design and all others are knock offs. It’s likely the dongle itself but if you have another device you can try it with it’s worth a try.
