Has anybody had any success with converting over to OBD2 from an explorer,i have a turbo 363 in my 94 gt using a blowthrough carb, i am thinking of going back to EFI but before i buy aftermarket i was thinking about doing an explorer set up.
You are thinking OBD2 for tuning purposes, like SCT or equivalent? You can use a QuarterHorse, a Bama Tune/Chip, or MegaSquirt for the 94 EEC-IV...
i have no desire to use a 94-95 ecu again, all wiring related to the 94-95 has been removed, plus i like the idea of no distributor. and being able to tune with a hand held tuner like i use for my lightning
Megasquirt seems to be popular here. Their are a few fuel injected carb plug and play setups that learn the car. Sounds crazy, but obviously successful. Fitechefi.com is an alternative and looks like a promising product!
You can run the megasquirt or the holly efi and go without the distributor. You use the timing sensor that the explorer uses and you can then go cop. There's a member on here who did this setup but I can't remember who it was. This message courtesy of crapatalk!
FI Tech does not support enough horsepower for my application, I was just thinking out loud of using something different than Holley of mega squirt. Car is blow through C&S carb just wanting to go a different direction next year.
It's been done before. Both with a megasquirt and a stock computer/sct combo. Avoid cars with the pip security system or have it shut off at ecm via tuner. I think I'd rather go eec-IV and pms, sct tuners are $ and not self learning like the newer systems. I've also seen some good thing about that pimp system but haven't seen one in person.
