When we purchased this car from a 3rd party, we were told it is Deep Violet. It's a 97 GT convertible, and in their garage, it definitely looked violet(ish). But, I've never seen a Deep Violet in person, so who am I to question it? Since getting it home, we've done a good bit of work on this & that. This weekend, I hammered out a couple dents & am now ready for a bit of touch-up paint. So... I went to get the paint code from the door tag so I could be sure to order the correct color. "UA". Sweet. That's easy to remember.
I go inside to start browsing websites to find the right place to order our UA "deep violet" paint.. but I'll be damned if every site I go to pulls up freaking "ebony black" when I enter the UA code. WTF?
Upon further investigation, Deep Violet's code is JA.. UA is for sure Ebony Black. So... this is just one MORE effed up thing we've discovered with this car (ie: '99 transmission, non-standard freeze plugs, all sorts of issues with the speedometer not working, ODB2 not getting any speed input at all - which we now know is a VSS vs OSS compatibility related... It's just been a hot steaming mess.)
Confused by this odd color conundrum, we decided to go out & really inspect the car with pessimistic eyes... and sure as shit... it's frigging black.
So now, the question is... how the actual hell do we find touch-up paint for this thing?? **facepalm**
