Re: Painted valve covers - badda bing

Thanks for the props :bunny3:
You'll get pix of them on ;)

KBGT - Yes it's high temp paint. I' hope it's up to your KB standards!

Badass - I don't think you can powder coat them, since they're plastic.

Matt & Robert - Ya, just a touch of blue on the car. the rest is non color - white, gray and black.
I like that medium tone of blue, kindof like Lapis Metalic.

they have:
2 coats adhesion promoter
2 coats primer
3 coats silver
2 coats blue
3 coats clear

Woot!

try this http://www.duplicolor.com/products/colors/highheat.html

DE 1644 Racing Green (Hunter), 9th from the bottom of the chart. im guessing you can buy and/or order the color you want from a local parts store that sells Dupli-Color. im gonna grab a couple of the dark blues to see if i can come up with a close match :thumb:

I couldn't find any DFG high temp when i was looking either. I was gonna paint the ridges on my Team Breed Covers green to match my Demolet CAI but now i'm gonna have them powder coated with my timing cover...DFG FTW

definately started something here...i've only seen a few guys on other forums with it done except MD, everyone seams to have painted or Team Breed there.

Re: Painted valve covers - badda bing

cool that. It really turned out good. just time and basic materials.
I got the primer and adhesion promoter & scotch pads, from a paint supplier store. like an autobody slupplier.
the high temp color painst I just got a Checker.

one tip I'd mention is to pull the tape off right after you spray the second color.
if you wait it will stretch the edge of the paint.

then put down the final clear.

So if you go green, would you do the whole cover green, or just the middle section?
