I bought a set of Windsor PI Heads and Intake. I ran into a deal on a used PI Shortblock with 40K on it. My car has 115K on it and I'm worried that right after I do the PI swap, the lower end will go. Do you guys think I should just buy the PI block and put the PI heads on that instead of my NPI block?

Depends in which shape your nPI block is and if you plan to supercharge the Engine in the future. (nPI block = higher compression)

I think it's okay. It has high mileage on it, though. I can get the block for $300 shipped. It's off a '00 GT with 47K miles on it. I bought PI heads off a '00 GT as well. What do you guys think?...

I've come down to two choices: Buy that PI block or buy a set of stage 1 cams.

Do a compression test on the npi engine. If everything is cool then your good. These engines with good mantance will last a long time. Way longer than the 5.0's. After doing the check go get the cams.

This is what I suggest as well.

it depends on what other futur mods you want to do, if you want to supercharge or turbo your car definetly go with a PI motor, but if you plan to stay NA or go with nitrous o the PI swap if your NPI block is good.

I think I'm going to go with the cams. I'm going to save up and buy a forged rotating assembly, block, and a blower. As for right now, I'll be happy with a PI swap and some good bolt ons.

why waste your oney on those cams then if you plan on getting a forged block and a blower...just put that money towards some blower cams later on. O0

Here's what I am doing:

I bought an 02 PI engine. I am putting forged pistons and rods in there. I am also putting in VT cams, CAI, longtubes, and ported plenum and throttle body. After that, I am getting it tuned. It's gonna be so much better than that weak NPI engine that I have now.

I would go with the complete engine swap if I were you. Thats just my opinion, though.
