Hey all, just joined because I haven't been able to find a question I have about my PI swap. So I have a 97 gt with the stock block and I just put a set of 11 bolt PI heads on with matching cams and a PI intake manifold(the one that looks closer to the npi one with a deeper belly, not the spider lookin one). And I was just curious which style of ignition I need to be using? COP from the newer style? Or wires to coil packs like the older style? Cuz I really do NOT want to wire in coil pigtails. Any help/input is appreciated. Also any input at all is welcome

You can keep using the coil packs. The cop’s are a nice upgrade but they use waste spark because the oem 96-98 ecu doesn’t have individual coil drivers. The coils will wear out quicker because of this.

Ok, thank you very much. Another followup question if you don't mind, are upgraded coil packs worth it on these cars? I already went a step colder on plugs to try and compensate for the compression bump

No, oem are the best in terms of longevity. Upgraded coil packs do absolutely nothing except make your wallet lighter.
