I have 04 gt wheels on the car currently with stock tires, and I want wider out back. I've already done a search but couldn't find any good pics. I know the 275's are the same height as well which I like and I also plan on getting wheel spacers eventually. I am also already aware that it will affect handling in a negative way which I don't take turns so i'm not worried about that. What i'm getting at is does any body have pics of the 275's on a 17x8 wheel front or back so I can see how they look on the rim. I'm going to keep the stock size up front though. Thanks:SNSign:

a pic currently with the 245's all around.

sorry if I put this in the wrong section :D

275/40 is to big for a 8 inch rim. It sticks out way to much and will effect handling because of so much tire flex. If you want to go 275/40 (Which is stock 03'Cobra Size) you need to get a 9 inch rims such as 03' cobra or 95 Cobra R......The biggest your should go on a 17x8 inch wheel is 255/40

i have 285s on my 17x8s and they fit fine. They dont stick out at much as you think. You guys worry to much. IF i had a 17x9 wheel id be going 315s. As far as handling, i truthfully didnt feel a difference.

:nonono:

The sidewall flex must feel like shit....i would alos NEVER run a 315 on a 9 inch rim......you need to bump up to a 10 1/2 inch rims to pull off a fat tire.

w/e you guys say. 285 is the norm around here on 8 inch wheels. Then the people with 9 inch usually go 305 or 315. Then for the 10 1/2 they stick with 315s although there was one guy on our local board running 335 viper tires.

that may be what those guys are running but that does not make it RIGHT :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: the tire will not be on the pavement the way it was intended to be when its mounted on a rim that is way too small for the width of the tire.

if i could find it, which i cant.. i had a thread where we tested our cars on the other forum (cuz there were comments on contact patch and everything) and a 285 on a 8 inch rim was actually had a wider patch than the 9 inch rim. O and the same tires on two sets of wheels on the same car. the 8 inch setup went faster.

if everyone went by that than they ARE idiots. Put 255s on 17 x 8 wheels on just about supercharged car (lets say one that makes 400hp). They will blow them away. Take the same wheel and put a 275 or a 285 and it'll be a world of a difference, might still spin but much better with the bigger tire. Also if the bead didnt "seat" properly wouldnt the tire lost pressure over time? Basically what you guys are saying is to have a big wheel/small tire combo? Just doesnt make sense to me. But to each his own opinion.

Kinda makes me wonder why tons of people run 15x8 prostars/draglights and put those size tires on them. They must be idiots like me?

not many people run 450+ street cars with an 8" wheel. brian hit it on the nose with the tire sizes.. if you think its right go with it but IMO your running to much tire on that small 8" rim.
