Hello fellow Stang owners,
The man from Down Under here!

Unfortunately, Mustang's break down in Australia, too.
The only difference is, parts don't tend to be on-the-shelf, at the local store.
And in my case, not a single 302W distributor available anywhere in the country is compatible with the SN95's EFI setup. Ugh!
I'm going to have to import one, which becomes a headache in itself, given majority of US sellers refuse to ship internationally.

But anyways, I digress...
What is the definitive BEST replacement distributor, for completely stock applications? My engine is completely unmodified.
I'd read the MSD's require an Ignition Box to be used (and aren't exactly the most reliable option), so I'm not overly interested in that.
I have been looking at LMR's "PERFORMANCE DISTRIBUTORS: HOT FORGED ALUMINUM DISTRIBUTOR 5.0", that is listed for $259 USD.
If they're the way to go, does anybody stock them at a slightly better price? (Exchange rate isn't currently in my favour, AT ALL!)
Or, is there a better brand to buy?

Thanks in advance for the advice/answers!

I know everyone will disagree, but I've had decent luck out of the new - not reman'd - parts house offerings. I've ran 3 of them in different cars and the only issue I ever had with one was the bottom of the housing wasn't quite machined correctly and the distibutor gear chewed the bottom of it pretty well, but that was probably 6-7 years ago now. Pulling it out to find a glitter party was disheartening.

The current one in my Cobra is a WAI branded unit, my others were Rich Porter branded, but everything looked identical between them. Looking at LMR's website, it looks identical to what they're offering as their stock replacement. I'd imagine the only difference realistically between a stock replacement and the "Hot Forged" unit at the bodies themselves. They're likely all running the same stock-style pickups.

It is also possible to replace just the PIP unit. I'm not sure what all the Australian markets received but the same PIP is used in our cars and slightly earlier Thunderbirds and Cougars if I remember correctly. Shipping just the PIP may also be a little easier and cheaper. Just an idea to explore.

This would be a good replacement for you. https://shorturl.at/k89E7 . If you could find a "Standard Auto" branded it would, IMHO, be slighly better. I didn't see that part number on the AU Amazon site but that may be because I'm in the US.

I recently rebuilt my original for around $40 USD. with hearing all the possible trouble with aftermarket and rebuilds, I was worried. I bought the PIP and installed it in about 1 hours time to include cleaning the housing. If you are mechanically inclined and have some tools it really is a piece of cake and I have the directions how to do it. All i needed was a punch to get the roll pins out, some socket, a screw driver and my hydraulic press.

Do not know how accurate this is but on eBay there are NOS available. Considering purchasing one as a backup.

Be careful on eBay. I found an "NOS" distrib I was going to buy. when I looked hard at the photos, the distributor cam gear had wear marks that clearly shows it was not new old stock. he was selling it as brand new.
