Any pi cam is a step up over the car npi cams, but the truck and mustangs got the hottest cams. Truck 5.4l 2v npi cams are comparible to pi truck 5.4l 2v.

All in all, the pi intake is fine for any NA application. Where the intake runs out of air, is near the limits of the 2v headflow. Once you go with ported heads, huge aftermarket cams, etc. and you're pushing 6500-7000 rpms, then other intakes may gain some- but now we're talking an all race setup.
I agree any pi cam is an improvement, and the Romeo style cams will be the easiest to find (basically anything 01+ besides an F series/E series). I'm also big on the Romeo style bolt on cam sprockets. No spinning Windsor cam gears. Also allows for an adjustable timing gear set, even if it's done later on.
