Sup fellas. So my driverside power window goes up and down just fine. However when it reaches the the top it does not stop itself; instead it just keeps trying to go up and just makes a loud popping noise as the motor keeps trying to push it further. Same thing when it reaches the bottom. I read somewhere on a forum that someone said the stops are in the motor itself but nobody confirmed it and i havent found anything else about it anywhere else. So is it the motor? Or does it have something to do with the one touch relay possibly? I dont see any parts laying at the bottom of the door or anything (which from experience with fixing other power windows i always now look for) and the window operates fine other then this described above. So i think the regulator and mounts are fine. I could pull it all out and probably narrow the problem down myself but i dont have the money or time today (its sunday) to diagnose, acquire parts, and reassemble before Monday AM. So ideally id like to know whats broken before i pull the glass and reg, then i can get the parts this week and disassemble, fix, and reassemble it all at once next weekend. Any thoughts?

Also I have the panel off right now and there is like an inch or two off play at the front of the glass. I can move it up and down; just the front part of the glass; pretty easily. Makes me think its the motor.

Update: I tried lowering the "upstops" as they are called in the Ford service manual, in hopes that if they stop the windows upward travel sooner then maybe the motor wouldnt keep trying to push the glass up past them. No go. Same condition. the motor still tries to push the window past them. Also the upstops wouldnt solve the same problem it still has when the window reaches the bottom. Also I dont think the one touch relay is working. It should take over automatically when you just tap the switch correct? So do we think its the motor or the relay or possibly both?

Ok so for anybody reading this who has the same issue as I had where the motor doesnt stop when the window reaches the top or bottom of its travel, it was the motor. The upstops are for keeping the glass level when it reaches the top. Whatever clutch system thats i side the motor was broke. The motor still operates but wont stop itself. Maybe its like the older motors with the plastic pieces that wear and and grind up, im not sure. I just bought a motor with regulator for around $50.

When buying an after market window regulator and motor as a set. Check and see if it’s a 2 pin or 6 pin electrical connector and it has the auto-up feature.
My Niece replaced hers and the window made the popping sound when she raised and lowered it. She put the old window motor back in. The window now works as it should. The window regulator did need to be replaced.

the auto-up or one touch relay is a seperate part on the 94/95. It is attached to the door panel, when you pull it off you will see the wires going to it and normally people just disconnect it. The window will not work with it unplugged.

Take the panel off and there are some tracks in there that guide it up and down with some plastic pieces that slide in them. They can break after time and it can be hard to see but if ya look around enough you will see it.
