A bit of explanation first off... After a lot of soul searching and bank account withdrawals with not much to show for it, I still had a '94 gt that was wrinkled like used aluminum foil and rotted everywhere else underneath. I had done some digging and found out that it had been totaled when it was only 2 years old, and before I got it had really been hacked back together. I really didn't have the finances to repair it to a safe (IMHO) ride and what it really deserved. The last owner offered to buy it back from me plus parts, time and effort I had put into it, as he just really missed the car and wanted bit back as well. Sooo long story short, I am no longer a SN-95 owner.. Buuuuutt!!!!!! There's a bright light on the horizon!!!! I'm still a pony owner!!!May I present to you all who have stuck with me thus far!! Project Cherry Bomb!!! She's a 1990 Mustang LX powered by a 351M with an automatic (one if the other reasons I had to let the other one go, disabled and a stick don't mix for me), it's got a stock 2 barrel carb feeding it all that raw power!! Underneath is as cherry as you can find for a car of this age, no rust, no wrinkles, no wrecks either.. all the body panels still have the original Vin number on them! 97,000 original miles!!IMG_20200510_182805686.jpg IMG_20200510_182545567.jpg IMG_20200510_153912165.jpg IMG_20200510_153851043.jpg IMG_20200510_153721477.jpg IMG_20200510_175527314_HDR.jpg I've included some pics of the inside, so you can all see what I mean about the shape of this ride and it even still has the sticker on the valve cover from the OE use of the engine so it'll make it easier to start out sourcing a few parts for that part of it. Things are a lil snug under hood in some places as you can see by the driver's side valve cover and the brake booster!! It is a hatchback car and does have a factory installed sunroof with it as well!! There are some areas that I will need to address along to way with it.. I'll need to source a driver's side door glass, and I'd like to find a used fiberglass hood for it somewhere, but that will come in time. My main goal right now is to flush the fuel system as it's been sitting for quite some time... I'm really encouraged with Cherry Bomb as I've got one with good bones, and I picked out the name because under it all a lil cleaning up and some TLC and she's really cherry underneath it all!!IMG_20200510_154419044.jpg

Looks like a 351 M. If I could see the front a little more and the front of the head I could tell intake looks like it

Yuppers still got the old open chamber 7.5 to 1 compression heads on it, and best I can tell it's got a C6 tranny.. I do plan on a pair of speedmaster closed chamber heads and a weiand intake in the future as $$ will allow.. I also need to source a 8.8 rear end, if the 7.5 in it ever really gets traction with the torque this thing can put out it'll just start puking gears out the cover lol!!

I did have sort of a screwball thought if I had a lot of time and $$$ that with compression ratio and the breathing capability of those heads it would be a perfect candidate for a turbo application!! It I don't have either so just another benchracing dream..

Yeah, with that compression I was thinking forced induction of some sort. You might be able to find a used blower setup for less money than the new heads and intake and make more power to boot!

The hood is already cut and the compression is just right to put a big ass wieand blower on it. Finish cuttin the hood and let er rip taterchip

Soooooo, on the Cherry Bomb today, I had soaked the base of the distributor with WD-40 blaster last night before turning in because I know what happens between aluminum and iron after sitting for a long time... As I have a distributor swap planned out and I saw on a YouTube where someone was rebuilding one of these and had to basically chisel the old one out, I really didn't wanna go through that... So today with a lil help from my two friends and a lil time, patience and gentle persuasion.. I finally got this one loose so when I'm ready for the swap it won't be a bastard of a headache!! IMG_20200518_173431575.jpg Had a good day to do some wrenchin on Cherry Bomb today, my ex-wife came up to assist (she used to work and drive big rigs so she knows her way around tools an shit..). First thing we tackled was the infamous no 8 spark plug. After a bit of cyphering on it the other night I figgered out the only way it was gnna come out was from the bottom.. So with her keeping the socket on the plug from the top and me wrenchin it one flat at a time we finally freed the danm thing!!! Moving forward from there we decided to tackle the fuel tank... After much cursing and I know I wove a string of obscenities that's still floating between here and Tennessee.. we finally got allllll the tiny bolts out and started to tackle pulling out the filler neck... Oh how I just love allll the YouTube videos that show ppl just pop that danm neck right out!!! I call bullshyte on all of em!! Course it could have been because of the condition of my filler neck.... IMG_20200518_160743536.jpg

*Sigh.....*

Good shit to come... After seeing that I just grabbed a light and shined it in the tank to take a peek... Can anyone guess what I found???IMG_20200518_160800617.jpg

Moral of this story... The next time you hear of or see in YouTube a barn find or someone drags out a car that's been sitting for (insert whatever number) years and they just threw a battery in it and drove away... You can just remember this and call bullshyte on it too!!!! /me staggers off to start a parts search and figger out a new fuel system....

Cought a break between the rain and a visit to the vampires (more on that at a later date) and pulled the sending unit and fuel pump out of the rust box that was my fuel tank... Also discovered how the previous owners ran a carburetor with a fuel injection pump on the car...I'll let my faithful readers figger it out from the pics to follow...IMG_20200519_115200930.jpg IMG_20200519_115207796.jpg IMG_20200519_115336660.jpg

Notice anything different aside from all the rust???
