honestly Spd0lit , i think its gonna be a super cool project. it already is, im definitely excited to see it all come to life. your car is definitely going to turn heads and break necks at shows. my brother is constantly trying to get me to swap a jdm motor in my car but he has no luck so im trying to avoid sending him your build for a while hahah

and this is what i meant by "abomination"

I'd love to 2J swap my 240. Have to get through the 3 motors I already have first...the Mustang, I would not do, but I look forward to seeing how yours comes out!

Well I took the training wheels off the motor and let the mounts do their job finally.

Yeah the motor does not sit any farther forward than the 5.0 did with the accessories hanging off the front. Also, the short block is almost all the way below the frame rails. Should make for a nice low center of gravity. Hopefully my car does not pick up too much weight. I'm sure it will a little though.

The car will pick up some heft with the motor swap unfortunately. How much i don't know for sure. I'm guessing it will be similar weight to a 4v mod motor when done. Of course down the line when I switch to single turbo and maybe a different intake manifold I can drop the weight. Atleast the weight is staying relatively low down in the chassis. The cast iron short block is almost entirely below the frame rails and the transmission is also where some of the weight is being added. But I'll definitely try to get some scales and hopefully a corner balance done after it's finished.

Sbf and trans about 600lb.

Give or take couple pounds.

Yeah i know for a fact that the 2jz weight figure is ready to run with all accessories and transmission at 746lbs. I haven't been able to find much on fully dressed ford motor weights. I know that ford racing lists the mach 1 4v crate motor at 614lbs and I'm assuming that is with accessories.

Just a quick update for everyone!

Finished the motor mounts and got them welded up. I'll be cutting the 302 ears off and painting the raw metal black.

Acquired a MotorCraft SPR-ZM rack (03-04 cobra)

One of the perks of having a brother that is a engineer for nasa is he is able to make some CAD design files for me. This is of the shifter linkage. Once he finishes up on that I'll have it cnc milled.

Just a little update! I just picked up my custom driveshaft today to mate up the toyota v160 to the ford 8.8 live axle. The driveshaft is a 3.5in steel shaft with a splined joint to allow some in and out movement from the live axle. I have a billet aluminum adapter flange to mate to the 1350 joint to the v160. I'm using an 03-04 cobra flange on the diff side to bolt the 1350 joint up on that side.

Just got some of my exhaust pieces in to start figuring out the routing. I was able to find dual 3in tailpipes that fit over the axle and I'll be using dual 3in aero turbine mufflers. Should be a huge increase in flow over the 2 1/4in tailpipes and flowmasters that were on the car.
