Here is a little update.

I finished smoothing in the hood vent and added a bit of paint so it looks a lot better. I also decided to strip down the engine bay and paint the engine bay the color that I will eventually want to paint the whole car.

Added some gold heat barrier on the exhaust side of the engine bay.

I have used it on some time attack builds that I have helped with and it greatly reduced the radient heat into the cabin. It's not that great with direct heat. Since the exhaust and turbos are so close there I figured it would help.

no reason it shouldn't help a little. I did something similar on the trans tunnel on mine. Seems like after I replaced the headers on a long drive the console would get so hot you could feel the head radiating 4-5" above it.

Just got some parts back from powder coating and I am really pleased with how they look!

Well I finally decided to be brave and tackle the one task I have been putting off. In order to convert completely to usdm spec, I needed to drill the head out to add egr to the jdm head. I had to do it if I wanted any hope of getting through bar inspection.

Here I sacrificed a egr plate to sink a drill bushing so I could get a nice straight shot into the #6 exhaust port.

All of the holes machined out and the bolt holes helicoiled.

bar inspection?

Yeah, California has a few hoops you have to jump through if you want to legally swap the motor. The inspector will go over all the smog equipment and test for visual and functional condition of the emissions equipment. If it passes they put a new door jam sticker on and it allows me to smog the car as a Toyota supra.

I have just started to wrap up the motor and it is now ready to put back into the car. I have also pulled the rear axle out and have modified the rear brake lines to make way for the irs suspension. Everything is starting to come together for this project.

Well I finally got motor in and I can't wait to get this project going. I put in a new flywheel and south bend stage 3 endurance clutch. The motor has been completely swapped to usdm spec. Now I just have to do some plumbing and wiring to get it going!

I have been slowly chipping away at things but I have finished all of the lines for the hydroboost/power steering system.

I always wanted to do this set up in a Cobra kit car, but I would be burned at the stake, and I probably could not fit in the car.

It’s amazing how original it looks in there.
