When you are dropping a tranny should you loosen the engine mounts?

I didn't, you can just put a jack on the front of the engine to tilt it back if you need to.

When I pulled my tranny yesterday my heater core hose gave out and someone told me it wouldn't of happens if I WOULD of loosend the motor mounts.

i'm not sure that has anything to do with it. I've pulled my trans a few times and I never loosened the motormounts to do so.

Loosening the mounts makes it easier to get to the top two bolts. Did it on mine when we just replaced my trans.
