Reality check - price out of line?

I went to a Mustang specific garage in my area to get a quote on installing my suspension upgrades to my '96 GT. Because I have a vert, I do want to get a subframe connector installed. The guy quoted me 24 hours labor at $76.50 per hour, and $470 for parts for a lower and inner install. That comes to about $2300.

And that's only for the connectors! I've still got CC plates, upper arms, shocks, struts, blah, blah, blah.

Is this insane? I know this mechanic is well known, and is apparently very good, but this price seems high.

I personally wouldn't pay that much to have it done. I'd try to beg a friend to help me out on it and save that money. I was gonna have a shop install my I-beams and frame notch in my F-150 and they wanted almost twice what I paid for the parts just to install em. I wound up doing it myself I just had to get an extra hand and have plenty of tools for it.

are we talking through-floor connectors or bolt-ins?? I heard not to bother with bolt ins myself. I had my subframe connectors installed at the same time that they installed the air ride setup, welded in the connectors and then undercoated the car and I didn't pay that much in labor(true story).

Should be 3-4 hrs at the most for standard weld-ins I would think.

If these are regular weld in subframes, I would not pay more than $200.

$2300 is pretty insulting if you ask me. I'd probably tell that guy to go **** himself.

Maybe you got the 'female special'. That's price gouging at its finest. My cage guys does them with 4 hrs labor, your parts, or he can charge you $250 if he gets them.

I am not kidding that I had my air-ride, connectors and undercoating for less then that. 24 hrs - is he going to repaint the entire car while its there as well?

24 hours labor to weld on subframe connectors??? what a piece of shit. I paid $150 to have mine installed. Any shop that can weld should be able to install them. Please don't buy anything from them, that's just flat out stealing

I'd go as far as to leave google reviews for the shop. that's trying to take advantage of you.
