Would you just look at it? It's supposed to be chrome, it doesn't like up well and someone even put tape under the coupling to seal it after the mass air meter. Seriously?? That SR cold air intake probably fit the previous owners budget nicely but I think it'll fit into the "for sale bin" even better. Who offers a quality, under hood intake? I don't want another 'filter in the fender well' type. I've had serious issues in the rain and fear I may eventually hydro lock the engine which isn't in my plans for this car at all.
. I have this one for sale. Mac 4 inch chrome. Didn't match color theme. currently running this one. This one matched. Ocd a bit. sent while thinking of mods for my 4.6s using tapatalk
This is on my towncar. K an N Apolo filter with tube running into headlight housing. Pulls no engine heated air into the intake. sent while thinking of mods for my 4.6s using tapatalk
Airaid, JLT, K&N. All those have plastic tubes and the filter is under the hood instead of in the fender. Much better set up. I have the Airaid on mine.
the name brands are all pretty ridiculous when you consider its a pipe/filter. Not to say that the BBK and big names are not a better quality but when you break it down your not going to get any more performance/bang for the buck in going from a cheap no name ebay brand to a BBK. If you have the cash and care that there is a nice name brand product then go for it but otherwise if your looking to save a few bucks a no named intake and filter combination is the first way most of us start. I certainly started that way and then found a good deal on a used Anderson power pipe a couple of years after. Considering I got it for less then half its retail and then was able to still sell the ebay intake for $20 I would do it over again the same way.
I just bought this MAC and was about to order the cold heat wrap as well! Glad to know someone else did it. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
It might very well be "just a pipe, and a filter" but that doesn't sway the fact that the metal intake tubes soak up heat. white95 lives in Louisiana where half the state is below sea level and it is humid as a sauna. We sit in a lot of traffic around here and it gets hot. Plastic would be the best bet for him and in the area of intakes, you really get what you pay for in the quality department.
I like the JLT or Tunable Induction kits. JLT is my favorite for the RAI filter under the hood like you want. Color matched is even sweeter. You can find the K&N FIPK for a decent price used on corral or eBay.
