I have a set of the stock 1996 Cobra aluminum wheels with the clear coat coming off. Has anyone tried to refinish the wheels themselves or have any other ideas? I checked into a local wheel and tire store and they said they could do it for $150 a wheel, which is a little expensive for me right now.
Any help or suggestions will be welcome.

I had the same wheels you're talking about. After a few scuff on the face courtesy of a ditch, they looked cloudy. I asked around about fixing it while retaining the "machined" finish. Pretty much everyplace I went said I had four options, 1) strip the clear coat off and polish the entire wheel 2) strip the clear coat of and chrome them or 3) have them painted and finally 4) powdercoating. NONE of which would retain the factory finish. They're a great looking wheel but that really pissed me off about them.
