Well, I'm gonna swallow some pride and ask before I break something and really regret it. I'm new to Mustangs and just bought a 97 Cobra. Very stock car. I believe there us a K&N in the factory air box, but I cannot figure out how to remove it. Doesn't seem to be enough room to push back the MAF and intake tube far enough to get it up and out of the way. Does the air box have to come out completely and if so, is there more than the single bolt on the inner fender? Can't say I have ever not been able to access an air filter! Thanks for the remedial help.

Oh dang....your car is still a cherry? WOW! I wont be any help here cause I cant remember how the air cleaner was. IIRC their is a bolt holding the assembly to the fender. Remove it and their might be another hidden under the maf. .....just start removing bolts even if you are clueless to what they are. Any of the bolts will be removed once in the cars lifetime. Might as well get aquainted!

Should be one built like mentioned on the fender side, then it sits in to grommets under the air box. You have to pretty much remove the clamp that goes around the air box. I just removed my stock box with k&n. If your rubber snorkel is still attached/in place, I believe you have to separate from from the snorkel to move the air box away from the maf.
