It’s not that bad. I’ve got the bolt hold down areas taped off so tightening the bolts shouldn’t bother the paint at all.
If I scratch it, I’ll just paint it next time I pull it out lol.

It’s very difficult to capture how slick the clear went down and how much metal flake is in the paint.

I checked the main bearing clearance last night, they are all spot on at .0015”. I was going to proceed with assembly and try to install this weekend but those plans are gone due to the oil pump gears looking like crap. I never had a bearing failure and all my bearings looked ok, cam journals are good, the pump gears are just trashed. 
Those are Boundary billet gears.

Yeah, those are billet gears just like white said. I’m not sure what happened to them. I know that I have run them hard, had them on the limiter plenty of times and seen more 7800 rpm pulls than I remember. I shipped them to boundary yesterday hopefully they will warranty them.
If we are being honest though, I’m expecting them to say it’s my fault so I have to buy new gears.

Oil pump gears are shipped off, and short block is assembled. I will be cleaning the heads up tomorrow so I can bolt them on. That’s about as far as I can go until I get the oil pump sorted out.
