Finally found time to work on the 6r80. All the clutch packs are built and the internals are installed. I have to assemble the pump and valve body tomorrow. Then, it is ready to go in. I don’t believe I’ll be getting it installed though, we had some pretty heavy rain all day today and the ground is soaked. I guess we will see where tomorrow takes us. Who knows, it might end up with the headers and transmission final installed tomorrow.

So yeah, here we are two months later, and today was the day I got the transmission installed. I fought pretty good with the passenger header. The header had to go in, then the starter, then the flywheel, and finally the transmission.

In fighting with the header, I trashed one of the composite gaskets, so I got a set of MLS gaskets. A05E0454-D676-46E7-AE6F-32BE68A446DB.jpeg3E95B6F7-E3F6-471B-81E0-93C17E9E71DF.jpeg1ED0DB94-B3BD-45A3-8954-4B6F6B0B0A2B.jpeg

Got that ready Sunday and Monday evening. Then today I was finally able to find time to install the transmission. 39FC56E5-B3BF-41F0-975C-9DA8DD4A4D04.jpeg465125EB-B0AB-4728-A058-8CB48853D19C.jpeg6E090DF0-CD8F-4247-820A-B6326DFDE0EC.jpeg

That looks like ZERO fun in a gravel drive. At least it looks to be mostly what we call "river rock" and not granite.

Spent a few minutes in the car today. I removed the trans tunnel hump I installed not long ago, and began test fitting the Lokar shifter. I have to make a plate to mount the shifter, and some tactical cuts in the center console to clear the shift cable. C7E87E22-6CA0-40C6-941A-96EB4A895A3A.jpegEF48CD33-F691-4B7A-9426-D2F8EA96557B.jpeg

Then I pulled the driver seat out and began brainstorming a way to mount the s550 seats.

I started with cutting the tabs off the s550 seats. It’s crazy how these tabs are not very secure on the stock rails. A couple of really small laser welds. 45seconds with the cut off wheel and the tabs came off. D6598E15-C808-43F0-9319-DA6E5825A807.jpeg

I’m thinking I’ll be able to cut the sn95 tabs/mounts off and weld them to the bottom of the s550 rails.

Could you just move the SN rails over, or are you trying to save the power functions?

The sn rails are nowhere close to fitting on the new seats. The way the power rails mount up it’s completely different and the width of the new tracks is different as well. So, I guess I’m keeping the power lol.

So, today was an alright day. I made a plate to cover the old shifter hole and to mount the Lokar shifter at the same time. Put a few tack welds on it then riveted the plate in. Covered the seam with some heat/sound barrier.

Then put the heat barrier all under the car in the trans tunnel. Got up on the firewall some too. Trying to minimize heat on the floor from the exhaust.ACA25B22-52CB-4B95-8FC4-7AAAC30CC46C.jpeg

Also installed the driver side header and steering shaft. 09ECF4A1-63FF-4292-84D9-1EB34D7DA4C3.jpeg

Then drilled some holes and put in riv-nuts to mount the shifter. D9C592CB-A0E3-4610-A517-8CFD7DD8F6C7.jpeg

So, I’ve been chipping away at it slowly. I ordered a replacement gauge bezel and painted it grey. I like the contrast, and I feel like it matches the passenger side better now. I also had to cut the cup holders on the center console for the shifter cable to clear. I’m going to shorten the front holder and epoxy it back on. It’ll be a change holder or something. The rear slot has the insert that goes in, so it’s still completely functional. 29F5A6E7-8E86-44CE-84DC-DE5CBE3236F6.jpeg

I also got my Fathead Garage A/C kit that moves the drier and lines in to the fender. Been fighting supply chain issue on this one. I ordered this in July-august of 22 and just got it a few days ago. 5791B7EB-AB33-4191-A0B3-99A962D425A5.jpeg

Been slowly picking away at it. Today, I finished up a bunch of wiring, and I put power to the car. This was a HUGE step for me. I built and wired in a fuse/relay box and that all works so far. Then I plugged in the laptop to pull the tune file out and make adjustments. I also verified the electronic throttle works and the throttle body moves. Still have a bunch to do, but it’s much closer now. 927BC3AD-6355-40A1-987B-1004F9A11161.jpegA3F975FE-420D-4B64-AA50-A581850E614E.png
